SAN DIEGO – San Diego State will host the annual USA Track and Field (USATF) San Diego-Imperial Association Summer Nights Track and Field All-Comers and Red-Black Intrasquad Meet this Saturday on the Choc Sportsman Oval at the Aztrack Sports Deck. The meet kicks off at 10 a.m. with the pole vault, discus throw, shot put, triple jump and high jump, while the action on the track gets underway at 10:00 a.m. with the Paralympic 5,000m followed by a "rolling schedule" for the rest of the day.

"San Diego State's Women's Track and Field kicks off its season with the Red-Black Meet," reminds Head Coach Shelia Burrell, "This meet provides as great opportunity for local track and field community, alumni, families, and friends to not only meet, but see the team. Meet entrants will be running, jumping and throwing side-by-side with Aztecs.  In 2023, the San Diego State placed third at the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships and second at the Outdoor Championships.  With hard work, combined with our strong incoming class, we are looking to win both titles this year."

USATF San Diego-Imperial Association President, Paul Greer notes, "The Red-Black Meet will be the first of 10 Summer Nights Track and Field Series meets offered by the Association. Summer Nights meets are sponsored though local institutions like San Diego State and provide opportunity for all members of the community, ages 2 to 92, to participate in track and field."

The annual meet also serves as a San Diego State intra-squad competition. The Aztecs are split into red and black teams who compete against each other in a dual-meet fashion. This year's intra-squad is an 11 versus 11 battle. The red team is captained by Maya Gorman with Thaila Wilson, Aji Mbye, Rhea Hoyte, Charlize James, Hannah Waller, Xiamara Young, Lidia Major, Lily Mulligan, Kayla Tassara, and Sydney Bentley. The black team is captained by Ashley Callahan with Jada Moore, Shaquena Foote, Jada Pierre, Jenna Fee Feyerabend, Sameerah Evans, Giselle Galles, Olivia Hicks, Jordan Leveque, Sydney Ash, and Keira Bennett.
