LOS ANGELES, Calif. – In their final tune up before the Mountain West Championships, the San Diego State Track and Field team had five different individuals earn top five finishes across six different events on Saturday at the Oxy Invitational. Senior Corey Friedenbach and senior Erica Grotegeer both won their respective events on Saturday.
 
The field events were first up for a quarter of Aztecs on Saturday. Grotegeer was joined by Onyi Anigbogu in both the shot put and the discus competition, while Friedenbach took part in the pole vault, and Zoe Brosch represented SDSU in the hammer throw. Grotegeer earned the first win of the day for the Aztecs in the discus throw. The Plumas Lake, California native threw 147'06 with her second attempt to earn the win. Anigbogu placed fifth in the event with a throw of 125'11.
 
Friedenbach followed that performance with another win for the Aztecs in the pole vault. The senior from Santa Cruz, California cleared her second highest vault of the season with a 12'08 clearance on her second attempt at the height to win the competition. Grotegeer and Anigbogu then took part in the shot put, placing fourth and seventh respectively. Grotegeer threw 42'01 and Anigbogu threw 38'01.75 in the event. Zoe Brosch rounded out the day in the field events for the Aztecs, and she took part in the hammer throw. The sophomore from Lake Tahoe, California finished in third with a throw of 158'04, a new personal record.
 
Two other Aztecs took part in action on the track on Saturday afternoon. Shaquena Foote and Sydney Bentley both competed for the Aztecs in the 100m dash, while Foote also took part in 200m dash. In the 100m dash Foote finished in fifth with a time of 11.08, while Bentley finished in 16th with a time of 12.54.  As for the 200m dash Foote again finished in fifth, running 23.51.
 
Up Next: The Aztecs head north to Fresno, California for the Mountain West Outdoor Championships. San Diego State will be looking to earn the ninth title, and their third straight after winning the title in both 2021 and 2022.
