CLOVIS, Calif. – The 2023 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships continued Friday afternoon with the final day of the heptathlon. Sophomore Jenna Fee Feyerabend came in first in the event with a stellar performance of 5752 points, setting a new PR, and the third best mark in SDSU outdoor history.

Fee Feyerabend earned a first-place finish in the long jump and set a new PR (19-9 (6.02m +1.3 m/s), a fourth-place finish in the javelin throw (119-2 (36.32m)), and third place in the 800m with a time of 2:20.54, also earning her third PR of the day.

Thalia Wilson finished the heptathlon in eighth overall, placing eighth in the long jump (17-06.75 (5.35m)), first in the javelin throw (148-10 (45.37m)), and 11th in the 800m, setting a new PR (3:02.11).

In the 100m hurdles prelim, freshman Charlize James took first place overall after winning her heat with a PR of 13.23 and the sixth best mark in SDSU outdoor history. Danae Dyer followed, winning her heat and finishing second with a mark of 13.38. With two outstanding performances, both James and Dyer qualified for tomorrow's 100m hurdles finals.

Jessica Kain raced in the 1500m prelim, earning a spot in Saturday's finals after a fifth-place finish and time of 4:25.41.

Jada Moore, Aisha Watt, and Alexus Alexander represented the Aztecs in the 100m dash prelim with Moore and Watt qualifying for tomorrow's final. Moore led the pack in first place in her heat and overall with a 11.59 finish while Watt also won her heat, placing third overall with a PR of 11.64. Alexander finished in 12th with a time of 12.02.

Ashley Callahan, who took the indoor championship in pole vault earlier this season, matched her efforts today, winning the outdoor event with a vault of 13-07.75. Corey Friedenbach also competed, finishing fifth overall (12-02.75). Callahan earned 10 points toward the team total while Friedenbach added 4.

In the long jump, Simone Johnson, Maya Gorman, and Dejanae Thompson competed, finishing 11th (18-10.50 (5.75m)), 21st (18-01 (5.51m), and 31st (15-00.75 (4.59m)) respectively.
 
As for the 400m dash prelims, Shaquena Foote won her heat and placed first overall, earning a spot in the finals with a PR of 53.80. Sydney Bentley also raced, finishing in 7th with a time of 55.23 and will compete in the finals alongside Foote.

Erica Grotegeer and Felicia Crenshaw both competed in the shot put, finishing 13th and 16th respectively.

Up Next: Day three of the Mountain West Championships is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. PT tomorrow with the discus throw. Track events start at 5:35 p.m. PT, with the 4x100 relay.
