Allie Light Again Named MW Pitcher of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- San Diego State softball's Allie Light has once again been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. It is the second straight weekly award for Light and the third pitcher award by an Aztec this season.
 
Light led SDSU to a 4-0 record last week, including a weekend series sweep over San Jose State. A Lexington, South Carolina, native, Light was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 7 2/3 innings, striking out five batters with just one walk. She limited the opposition to a .167 batting average with just one of the five hits allowed going for extra bases (one double).
 
Light got the win against San Jose State on Saturday, allowing just one hit in 5 2/3 innings of relief, striking out three with one walk. Light then pitched two scoreless innings against SJSU on Sunday, giving up four hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
 
On the season, Light is 5-4 with a 1.63 ERA and five saves in 64 1/3 innings. She has struck out 66 and limited the opposition to a .203 average.
 
San Diego State plays a weekend series at Utah State, beginning at 4 p.m. MT (3 p.m. PT) Thursday.
