CHULA VISTA, Calif. -- The San Diego State men's golf team fell one shot short of the Lamkin San Diego Classic team title Tuesday on the final day of the tournament.

The Aztecs, who are ranked 30th in the latest GolfStat ratings, finished at 19-under-par 845 on the par-72, 7,033-yard San Diego Country Club course following a 3-under 285 today, just one shot behind New Mexico (-20). SDSU led by four strokes over the Lobos heading into today's final round, but UNM carded a third-round low 8-under to beat San Diego State by a single stroke. No. 20 Colorado State (-7), No. 34 Washington (-7) and UCLA (-3) were the only other programs in the 15-team field that finished under par.

Sophomore Justin Hastings (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) finished in a tie for second place to lead the Aztecs at 8-under 208 following a 3-under 69 in today's final round. Hastings and New Mexico's Bastien Amat finished four strokes back of medalist Peter Hrby (-12) of Washington. Hastings opened with seven straight pars before making the turn with consecutive birdies on the par-5, 563-yard eighth and par-4, 427-yard ninth holes. A bogey on the par-4, 390-yard 12th set him back a stroke, but Hastings finished with birdies on the par-4, 485-yard 14th and the par-4, 367-yard 17th to sign for a 69.

Sophomore Shea Lague (Jamul, Calif./Steele Canyon HS) was two shots behind Hastings in a three-way tie for fourth at 6-under. Lague eagled No. 8 but started the back nine with consecutive bogeys. He had one birdie (No. 14) and a bogey (par-4, 397-yard 15th) the rest of the way.

Freshman Dylan Oyama (Carlsbad, Calif./Pacific Ridge HS), meanwhile, tied for 12th at -3 with his second straight even-par 72. Oyama notched a pair of birdies and two bogeys for his final round.

Competing as an individual, freshman Tyler Kowack (Del Mar, Calif./La Jolla HS) took solo 21st at even-par 216. After shooting an even-par 72 and a 70 yesterday, Kowack recorded a 74 on Tuesday. Starting on the 10th and recording two straight bogeys to start his round, he eventually got back to even-par with a birdie on No. 8. Kowack, however, double-bogeyed the ninth on his final hole.

Senior Youssef Guezzale (San Diego/La Jolla HS) tied for 22nd at 1-over 217 with a 72 today. Guezzale opened with a birdie on the par-4, 368-yard first, overcame two bogeys early on his back nine, and birdied the 14th to finish at even par for the round.

Competing as individuals, sophomore Jack Townsend (San Diego/Charter School of San Diego) tied for 30th at +3 and junior Skyler Ngo (Las Vegas) tied for 32nd at +4.

Freshman Chanachon Chokprajakchat (Bangkok, Thailand) was SDSU's final player in the starting lineup, but shot a 79 today to tie for 60th at +9. Sophomore Rugthai Thongsom (Surat Thani, Thailand) and junior Liam Koeneke (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) also played as individuals, tying for 63rd (+10) and 70th (+11), respectively.
