SAN DIEGO – The Aztec lacrosse team hosts Villanova on Wednesday at 5 p.m. PT at the Aztec Lacrosse Field. The Aztecs will then welcome the Howard Bison for a Sunday morning matchup at the Aztec Lacrosse Field at 11 a.m. PT. Both games will be streamed on the Aztec Lacrosse Youtube stream.
 
Aztec Tidbits: 
• The Aztecs went 2-0 over the weekend at Snapdragon Stadium, securing Friday's win over Kent State 15-9, and defeating High Point on Sunday 17-9.
• Against Kent State, Deanna Balsama (5) and Kate Christos (4) led the Aztecs in goals. Emma Betts contributed two additional while Maggie Marion, Sydney Wolfington, Cailin Young, and Brook Waddell added one each.
• Marion's goal against Kent State was her first of the season. 
• Caitlin Jones led the Aztecs in scoring against High Point with six goals, her season-high.
• Goalkeeper Sam Horan has 101 saves on the season through eight games.
 
Season Preview Tidbits:
•Cailin Young and Shelby Hook along with Sam Horan will be the team captains this season.
• SDSU has 8 newcomers (six freshmen and two transfers).
• Head coach Kylee White (12th season), the only head coach in program history, received a five-year contract extension in the fall of 2022.
 
Opponent Notebook (Villanova)
The Wildcats opened their season 4-1 with after four consecutive victories over William & Mary (18-6), Saint Joseph's (14-13), La Salle University (16-7), and Navy (11-10) and one loss to USC (4-15)...This will be the first matchup between the Aztecs and Wildcats. . .Sophomore Sydney Pappas earned  IWCLA Co-Offensive Player of the Week after 11 goals, two assists, and a .6875 shooting percentage between two games.
 
Opponent Notebook (Howard)
The Bison opened their season 0-4 with losses to Delaware (4-15), Akron (4-20), American (2-15), and Richmond (3-20)... They return several key players from their 2022 campaign in midfielder Qual Skeete-Ridley, midfielder/attacker Mikayla Mack, and defender Andrea Fievre...They ended the 2022 season with a record of 1-16.
