TUCSON, Ariz. -- The San Diego State men's golf team sits in a tie for ninth place after two rounds of the loaded Arizona National Invitational Tournament Friday in Tucson, Arizona. The Aztecs logged rounds of 289 and 282 on the par-72, 7,200-yard Omni Tucson National course for a 36-hole total of 5-under 571.
 
SDSU, which is 27th in the latest GolfStat computer rankings, are tied with No. 9 Pepperdine at -5. USC leads the field at 19-under 557, followed by No. 18 Arizona (-15), No. 3 Arizona State (-14), No. 4 Illinois (-11), No. 12 Florida (-9) and New Mexico (-9). No. 13 Oklahoma and No. 22 Oklahoma State are two shots ahead of San Diego State at -7, while No. 21 Colorado State (+1), Wyoming (+9) and San Diego (+11) are each over-par through two rounds.
 
Sophomore Shea Lague (Jamul, Calif./Steele Canyon HS) leads the Aztecs after rounds of 71 and 70, and is tied for 14th out of 84 golfers at 3-under 141. Lague, who was ranked 39th in the latest GolfStat individual rankings, had four birdies and three bogeys in the first round, and four birdies and two bogeys in the second.
 
Sophomore Justin Hastings (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands), meanwhile, is just a shot back of Lague in a tie for 21st at 2-under 142 after rounds of 72 and 70. Hastings opened with an even-par 72 as his six birdies were offset by a pair of bogeys and a pair of double bogeys. In his second round, Hastings sank three birdies over his final eight holes and four overall (also two bogeys) for an even-par 70.
 
Senior Youssef Guezzale (San Diego/La Jolla HS) and freshman Dylan Oyama (Carlsbad, Calif./Pacific Ridge HS) are tied for 36th at even-par 144 with both players carding a first round 73 and a second round 71. Guezzale had three birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey in his first round, and then came up with three birdies and two bogeys in the second round.
 
Oyama, meanwhile, was at 2-under par in the first round through his first 11 holes with four birdies and two bogeys but bogeyed three straight holes late (5-6-7) to settle for a 73. Oyama was a 2-under again in the second round through 11 holes but had to sign for a 71 with one birdie and two bogeys down the stretch for a 71.
 
Freshman Tyler Kowack (Del Mar, Calif./La Jolla HS) shots rounds of 76 and 74 and is tied for 73rd at 6-over 150.
 
Arizona's Zach Pollo and Oklahoma's Matthew Troutman are tied for the lead at 9-under 135.
 
San Diego State will play its final round Saturday along with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, beginning on the first hole at 7:30 a.m. PT.
