SAN DIEGO – The Aztec Track and Field team began weekend competition today at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Ben Brown Invite Distance/Carnival in Fullerton, Calif.
Jenna Fee Feyerabend represented the Aztecs and competed in the pentathlon, placing ninth in the nation. Feyerabend previously held the record for best performance in school history and broke her own record today with a score of 4,263 points.
Representing the Aztecs in triple jump, Johnson will compete on Saturday after earning a second place finish and the 11th best performance in the nation. Her previous jump of 44-00.75 (13.43m) also earned her a new personal best.
ESPN+ (WatchESPN.com) will have championship coverage starting at 10:30 a.m./1:30 p.m. ET March 11. Live Results will be posted throughout the meet and can be accessed online.
The distance squad had a strong showing at Ben Brown Invitational Distance/Carnival, the first outdoor meet of the 2023 campaign.
Alex Lomeli and Vanessa Cabello represented the Aztecs, competing in the 1500m. Lomeli placed third with a 4:36.32 finish and a new personal best record while Cabello placed ninth (4:41.03).
As for the 800m, Lauren Harper and Tatum Zinkin raced and placed. Harper led the pack and finished in first place with a time of 2:12.86 followed by Zinkin who earned a third place finish with a time of 2:15.42.
