SAN DIEGO -- The Aztec lacrosse team (1-4) fell to No. 19 USC Friday afternoon 16-7. SDSU stayed with USC through the first quarter but couldn't maintain momentum through the remainder of the game.

"I loved our team's fight, our team's composure," Head coach Kylee White said after the game. "When you're playing a great opponent like USC, you expect them to have some players go off like they did and you just hope to stop their runs a little sooner."

SDSU was once again led in scoring by Deanna Balsama, who netted four goals, while Sydney Wolfington, Kate Christos, and Brook Waddell added one each.

Through the first half, SDSU trailed 3-1, but then tacked on three goals in the beginning of the second quarter to take their only lead of the game 4-3. USC then scored seven goals to take control of the lead and go into the half leading 10-4.

USC outshot SDSU 37-22 and 22-10 in shots on goal. They also had a 20-7 advantage over the Aztecs in draw controls.

Caitlin Jones led the team with three draw controls.

Goalkeeper Sam Horan had 6 saves.
