LOS ANGELES – San Diego State completed the platform event on Saturday during the second wave of action at the Bruin Diving Invitational on the UCLA campus.
Senior Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez placed ninth after the final round with an aggregate score of 437.70 points to lead the Aztec delegation at a rain-soaked Spieker Aquatics Center.
In the preliminaries, Lechuga Gonzalez also took ninth with a total of 221.60 points, while Emma Duggan amassed 210.40 points to land in the 17th spot.
In addition, four SDSU competitors finished within two points of one another, including Summer Westmoreland, who occupied the 25th position after racking up 199.40 points in the round, followed in succession by Taylor Konopacke (26th, 199.10 pts), Olivia Zamudio (27th, 197.75) and Valentina Lopez Arevalo (28th, 197.55).
In Friday's previously unreported exhibition team event, the Aztecs finished sixth in a field of 11 schools with 253.80 points, as Lechuga Gonzalez, Lopez Arevalo and Konopacke contributed two dives apiece.
San Diego State wraps up its stay at the Bruin Diving Invitational on Sunday, with the preliminaries of the 1-meter springboard competition slated to get underway at 10:30 a.m. PT.
