SAN DIEGO – Aztec women's golf head coach Lauren Dobashi has announced the signing of Nikki Kato, who will join the program for the 2023-24 season.
"We are excited to welcome Nikki to the Aztec family," Dobashi said. "She brings a competitive spirit and is tough as nails. She has a passion for the game, and I know she will come in and make an immediate impact on this team."
A native of Redmond, Wash., Kato was the No. 4 ranked junior in Washington last year.
Kato attends Cactus Shadows High School in Cave Creek, Ariz., who she helped lead to a state championship last season with a birdie on the second playoff hole.
Kato had her team's lowest score in 11 of their 13 tournaments and finished under par in 10 of those tournaments. Kato was also a participant in the 73rd U.S. Girls Junior.
Kato is the first signing for the class of 2023 for the Aztecs.
