SEATTLE, Wash. – San Diego State cross country finished 26th at the 2022 NCAA West Regionals on Friday morning at Chambers Creek Regional Park. Jessica Kain crossed the tape first for the Aztecs, leading the squad with a time of 20:40.3 and setting a career PR.
SDSU traveled to Seattle, Washington for their second postseason race and competed in a competitive 6K race to secure a 26th place finish out of 35 teams competing.
Kain was the first Aztec to cross the finish line. The senior ran 20:40.3 to finish 78th overall out of 249 student-athletes who competed in the regional race. Vanessa Cabello was the next Aztec to complete the course. She came in 140th and posted a time of 21:23.9. Next to finish was Alex Lomeli, who placed 175th with a time of 21:52.6. Right behind her in 176th overall was Bella Peretti who finished the 6k course in 21:53.8 with a new career PR, followed by Maddy Parrone who finished in 22:34.9 in 209th place overall.
Also running on Friday was Lauren Harper who came in 212th place with a time of 22:41.8.
The Aztecs ran and achieved their fastest regional 6K team time in 19 outings with a 1:48.26 finish.
The Stat: The Aztecs beat a Power 5 team after finishing right before Arizona State.
