SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women's tennis wraps up their fall schedule this weekend at two separate tournaments. The Aztecs will have athletes competing at home at the SDSU fall Classic II, and at the Watanabe Classic hosted by UNLV in Las Vegas this weekend.
SDSU will host their Fall Classic II at the Aztec Tennis Center Friday through Sunday. Four Aztecs will be in action in both doubles and singles play in the event. Tamar Arnold and Rania Azziz will play together in the black doubles draw, while Alexandria Von Tersch Pohrer and Cecile Morin will suit up together for the first time this season in the red draw of doubles play. Von Tersch Pohrer will also play in the red flight of the singles tournament beginning at 9:45 a.m. PT on Friday. All doubles action at the SDSU Fall Classic II will start at 9 a.m. PT on each day of competition.
As for the Watanabe Classic hosted by UNLV, San Diego State will have an additional four athletes taking part in both doubles and singles play. Dariya Detkovskaya and Andjela Skrobonja will play together in the top flight of doubles play and will open the tournament against Hayashida and Mehra of Iowa, while Alicia Melosch and Andreea Velcea will play in the second doubles flight against Horwood and Hersh of Utah. In singles play, Skrobonja will take on Sarah Medik of Long Beach State in the opening round. Additionally, the three other Aztecs will all play power five opponents. Detkovskaya will play Samantha Mannix of Iowa, Alicia Melosch will face Ares Teixido of Oregon, and Velceea will play another power five opponent in Samantha Horwood of Utah.
Competition at both sites will begin each day at 9 a.m. PT with doubles play. Singles play will start after the conclusion of doubles play each day.
