Aztecs Ranked 22nd in Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll

NORMAN, Okla. – The San Diego State men's golf team is ranked 22nd in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Coaches Poll, which was released Friday afternoon.
 
The Aztecs ended their fall campaign on Oct. 11 with a runner-up finish at the 12-team Wolf Pack Intercollegiate. SDSU also won the 19-team William H. Tucker Invitational (Sept. 23-24) and finished eighth of 18 in a loaded Maui Jim Intercollegiate (Sept. 9-11).
 
San Diego State received 88 points in the latest poll after receiving votes in the initial poll on Sept. 30. Georgia (125) and Kansas State (121) are 20th and 21st, respectively, while No. 23 Mississippi State (55), No. 24 Oregon (49) and No. 25 Arizona (43) round out the top 25. Auburn is ranked first with 460 points and 11 of the 19 first-place votes, closely followed by Vanderbilt's 450 points and six first-place votes. Arizona State is ranked third with 437 points, with Texas Tech (414) and North Carolina (413 and two first-place votes) rounding out the top 5.
 
The Aztecs are also 22nd in the latest GolfStat team ratings (Oct. 26) and in the Golfweek/Sagarin team ratings (Oct. 25).
 
Sophomore Shea Lague (Jamul, Calif./Steele Canyon HS) led SDSU with a 69.00 stroke average in fall play and is ranked 19th in the latest GolfStat individual ratings (Oct. 26). Senior Youssef Guezzale (San Diego/La Jolla HS) (70.22), freshman Dylan Oyama (Carlsbad, Calif./Pacific Ridge HS) (70.67), sophomore Justin Hastings (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) (70.78) and freshman Tyler Kowack (San Diego/Canyon Crest Academy) (71.00) also shot under par this fall for SDSU.
 
San Diego State will begin its spring campaign at the Southwestern Invitational, Jan. 30-Feb. 1, at North Ranch C.C. in Westlake Village, California.
