Aztecs Host Red-Black All-Comers MeetAztecs Host Red-Black All-Comers Meet

San Diego State will host the annual USATF San Diego-Imperial Association Summer Nights Track and Field All-Comers and Red-Black Intrasquad Meet on Saturday, December 10, 2022 on the Aztrack Sports Deck. The meet kicks off at 10 a.m. with the pole vault, discus throw, shot put, triple jump and high jump, while the running events get underway at 10:30 a.m. with the men and women's 4x200 meters relays using a "rolling schedule."

"For almost three decades, San Diego State's Women's Track and Field has kicked off its annual campaign with the Red-Black Meet," said head coach Shelia Burrell.  "The Southern California track and field community, alumni, families, and friends get to see first-hand the results of fall training as the good things to come during the season. What's unique is that participants can see that running, jumping and throwing side-by-side with the women on our NCAA Division I team.  In 2022, the Aztecs took second at the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships and won the Outdoor Championships.  With hard work, combined with our strong incoming class, we are looking to win both titles in 2023."

Paul Greer, President of USATF San Diego-Imperial Association, 1988 SDSU Graduate and former Aztec Team Captain said, "For over 10 years the Red-Black Meet has been our first of 10 Summer Nights Track and Field Series events offered to the Track and Field Community every year. Our local USATF San Diego/Imperial Association is proud to team with schools like SDSU to host the Summer Nights Track and Field Series. These meets allow for all members of the community to try track and field events, from young children to master's athletes. We look forward to this year's Summer Nights Track and Field meet at SDSU and continued partnerships for years to come."

The annual meet also serves as an intra-squad competition.  The Aztecs are split into red and black teams who compete against each other in a dual-meet fashion. Competition routinely goes down to the wire and is often decided by the 4x400 meter relay at the end of the meet.

The competition will include Fully Automatic Timing (FAT) with wind readings for sprints and horizontal jumps. Throwers (especially masters) must bring their own implements.

For the eleventh year, the meet will be nationally sanctioned. Youth, high school, junior college, university (including San Diego State students), Paralympians, alumni and masters competitors of all ages can participate an unattached basis, regardless of affiliation or ability.  A record 485 athletes competed at the meet in 2022.

All competitors must register and pay on-line by midnight, Wednesday, December 7th here

On-line entry fee is $10.00 for unlimited events.  There will be no day of meet registration available given the size, complexity and quality of the meet.

Spectator admission is free.
