SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women's soccer (7-3-5, MW 5-1-1) beat Nevada (3-8-3, MW 2-4-1) 3-0 on senior night on Thursday evening at the SDSU SportsDeck. Goals from Carlin Blake, Emma Gaines-Ramos and Emily Lowe propelled the Aztecs to the win.

On a night where the Aztecs honored three seniors for senior night, it was the underclassmen who provided the spark for SDSU. In the first half San Diego State got off 12 shots to set the tone early, and their attacking prowess paid off in the 17th minute. Gaines-Ramos took off down the left side and eventually beat two defenders. She then crossed the ball to Denise Castro in the box, who flicked the ball back towards the penalty shot where Blake was waiting. Blake took two touches to settle the ball and then rifled it into the top left corner of the net to give the Aztecs a 1-0 advantage. The goal was Blake's first of her collegiate career. After Blake's goal, the Aztecs remained on the front foot but could not find a second goal in the half, and entered the halftime break up 1-0.

The second half was a similar story. The Aztecs fired off 13 shots and limited the Wolf Pack to six shots of their own as Alexa Madueno stood tall in goal for San Diego State. With an assist already to her name, Gaines-Ramos got in on the scoring action in the 58th minute. After picking up the ball from senior night honoree Claire Watkins, Gaines-Ramos drove towards the edge of the 18-yard box. She then curled a shot around three defenders, past the outstretched Wolf Pack keeper, nestling the ball into the top right corner of the net to give the Aztecs a 2-0 advantage with just over 30 minutes to play.

San Diego State was not done after that. In the late stages of the match freshman Logan Nidy dribbled past two defenders and then played a perfect cross to Lowe. Lowe, a sophomore from San Clemente, California, then had the ball come off her back and fall into the back of the net to give the Aztecs a 3-0 lead in the 84th minute. The goal was Lowe's first of her career.

In total the Aztecs outshot the Wolf Pack 25 to nine on the night, as the SDSU back line earned their third consecutive clean sheet. The Aztecs have now won four in a row and are undefeated in their last six matches played (5W, 1T).  San Diego Stat also improved to 4-1 at home in MW play and put themselves three points above their nearest competitor atop the Mountain West standing with the win.
