FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Aztecs, fresh off winning their second consecutive conference title last weekend at the Mountain West Championships, had nine athletes competing on the first day of NCAA West Regionals on Thursday evening at the University of Arkansas.  

SDSU had three athletes competing in the pole vault competition on Thursday. Freshman Ashley Callahan, junior Corey Friedenbach, and senior Kaitlin Heri all cleared the opening height of 12-06.00. Callahan and Friedenbach followed that height with a first attempt clearance of 12-11.75, while Heri cleared 12-11.75 on her third attempt. All three Aztecs then failed to clear the next height of 13-05.75. Callahan finished in a tie for 14th, Friedenbach came in a tie for 22nd and Heri finished in a tie for 28th.

On the track on Thursday the Aztecs had six individuals competing in six events. Jada Moore, the Mountain West Champion in the 100m dash, ran 11.68 in the event on Thursday evening, and finished sixth in her heat and 34th overall. In the 200m dash the Aztecs had two representatives, Moore and Jalyn Harris. The duo finished just outside the top 24 qualifying spots for Saturday's quarterfinal round. Harris finished in 26th place with a time 23.66 and Moore finished right behind her in 27th, finishing in 23.67.

In the 400m dash, Sakura Roberson finished fourth in her heat and 26th overall just outside the top 24, running 53.79. As for the 800m run Lauren Harper ran 2:17.49 in her heat of the event.

In the hurdles the Aztecs had Danae Dyer take part in the 100m hurdles and Rhea Hoyte in action in the 400m hurdles. Dyer finished sixth in her heat in 13.62, while Hoyte finished eighth in her heat of the 400m hurdles in 1:02.26.

Up Next: The Aztecs have two individuals in action on Saturday, Jenna Fee Feyerabend in the high jump (12:30 p.m. PT), and Mountain West Champion Simone Johnson in the triple jump (4:00 p.m. PT). Additionally, both the 4x100m relay (3:00 p.m. PT) and the 4x400m relay (6:45 p.m. PT) will be looking to book a ticket to nationals.
