CLOVIS, Calif. – The 2022 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships began Wednesday afternoon with day one of the heptathlon. The Aztecs have Sara Absten in second and Jenna Fee Feyerabend in third in the event heading into day two.

Absten posted a solid opening mark to the meet in the 100m hurdles. The senior ran 13.89, 0.01 seconds off her personal best in the event to place second overall. Fee Feyerabend came in third in the event in a new personal record, running 14.28.

In the second event of the day, the high jump the Aztecs had three athletes place in the top four. Absten, Fee Feyerabend and Thaila Wilson all cleared 5-05.00 in the event to take second, third and fourth in the high jump.

As for the shot put, the Aztecs placed two in the top five. Fee Feyerabend bounced back in a big way in the event. Heading into her third and final throw she was in second place, but with a throw of 42-07.50 she threw herself into first place in the event. Absten followed in fourth place with a throw of 39-02.50.

In the final event of the day, the 200m dash, the Aztecs put in another strong showing. Absten led from wire-to-wire in her heat en route to a new PR in the event, running 24.22 to take the win. Fee Feyerabend finished fifth in 25.85 and set a new PR in the process.
