IRVINE, Calif. – The Aztec track and field distance team returned to the track after a week off on Friday night at the Steve Scott Invitational hosted by UC Irvine. The Aztecs took part in the 3,000m steeplechase and the 5,000m run on Friday night.

In the 3,000m steeplechase the Aztecs had Isabelle Davis and Natalie Regalado in action. Both finished mid-pack and set new PR's. Regalado finished in sixth place, finishing in a new personal best 11:28.33, which is an eleven second improvement for her. Isabelle Davis also finished in the top 10, placing 10th, while running 12:27.52.

As for the 5,000m run the Aztecs had four athletes competing, with two setting new PR's under the lights on Friday night. Emily Burd and Vanessa Cabello each set new PR's and finished right next to each other in 14th and 15th. Burd set a new PR of 17:39.82, which is a 14 second PR for her, while Cabello finished in 17:44.16, good for a 35 second PR for her in the event.

The Aztecs are back in action tomorrow afternoon and evening at both the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine, California and the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Arizona. Both meets will have results available via finishedresults.com.
