EVANSTON, Ill. – The Aztec lacrosse team (5-7) fell to No. 3 Northwestern (12-2) 20-8 Sunday afternoon, snapping their three-game road winning streak.

"I think we played three good quarters, and I don't think the score tells the whole story of the game," head coach Kylee White said. "I am happy with how our team left everything on the field in the second half, showing heart and fight as we battled the uncontrollable circumstances most of the game. There are a lot of positives coming from this game and I feel like we are now even better prepared for next weekend as we face our last ranked opponent for the year."

SDSU had three players score two goals: Deanna Balsama, Bailey Brown and Emma Betts. With Balsama's two goals, she now has 52 on the year which ties the Aztec school record set by Harlowe Steele in 2019.

After allowing a goal in the first 30 seconds, SDSU and Bailey Brown tied it up at one with 13:45 left in the first but then saw the Wildcats reel off five straight goals to go up 6-1 at the end of the first quarter.

The Aztecs had an 8-5 advantage in caused turnovers, led by Katie Wozencroft's three.
