WASHINGTON, D.C. – Deanna Balsama has been named to the prestigious Tewaaraton Award Second Round Watch List, the Tewaaraton Award Foundation announced on Friday morning.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are comprised of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
Balsama has started the season strongly and is amongst the national leaders in multiple offensive categories. She is second in the nation in shots on goal per game (7.1), is second in goals per game (4.6) and is third in free position goals per game (1.6). The Sea Isle, New Jersey native is also top ten in shots per game (4th, 9.0) and total goals (4th, 46). The senior attacker is on pace to score 73 goals while the school record is 52 set by Harlowe Steele in 2019.
She leads the team in total points (47), goals (44) and shots on goal (66). As for individual standout performances, Balsama has scored eight goals in a game twice, the most in a game in school history. Her 10 points against Princeton on March 12 is tied for the most in a game in school history (Michaela Jarvis – 2013). She also had nine points against Oregon on February 27.
