Aztecs Take Sixth at Juli Inkster Invitational

FAIRFAX, Calif. – The Aztec women's golf finished in sixth place (out of 13) at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational. SDSU shot a 291 (+3) in the third and final round, the fourth best of the day, and finished with a team score of 879 (289-299-291, +15).
 
Sara Kjellker tied for fifth overall after shooting a 68 in her final round, finishing with a 213 (-3) with two rounds under 70 (69-76-68).  Kjellker had seven birdies, including five in her first eight holes and finished with her best 54-hole score (213) of the season).
 
Bernice Olivarez Ilas also had a top-20 finish, shooting a 218 (+2, 73-74-71). She has finished in the top 30 in four of SDSU's five tournaments.
 
Anna Lina Otten and Esti Garcia Rubio tied for 36th with a 225 (+9), with both of them shooting a 76 in the final round.
 
Anika Sato tied for 48th with a 231 (+15, 87-74-79).
 
Washington's Camille Boyd took home the individual title, finishing with a 202 (-14) and shot a 65 in the final round. Stanford's Rose Zhang, the No. 1 ranked golfer in the nation, shot a course record 64 Tuesday and finishing with a 205 (-11).
 
No. 9 San Jose State, the co-host, won the team championship, holding off No. 1 Stanford. The Spartans shot an 854 (281-283-290) and had three golfers finish in the top 10.

The Aztecs had the second best first round and fourth best third round.
 
THE NOTE
This is the first time in SDSU's five tournaments where all five golfers have finished in the top 50.
