HAMDEN, Conn. – The Aztec lacrosse team (4-6) won at Quinnipiac (5-4) 13-7 Wednesday afternoon. SDSU had eight different players score and their seven goals allowed were the second fewest an opponent has scored against them.
"We got off to a slow start today but we found our fire in the third quarter," Head coach Kylee White said after the game. "I think the players coming in off the bench were the spark we needed. We were extra focused on winning the draw and ground ball battles, knowing that Quinnipiac was a gritty team. They battled us until the end, and I am happy that we are walking away with a win today. We have a day off to recoup and have some team time, then its back to business Friday as we prepare for our Saturday match up at Columbia."
Playing in temperatures in the 40's, the Aztecs allowed the first goal and then scored four straight to jump out to a 4-1 lead. The Bobcats then responded with three unanswered goals to tie it up at 4-4.
The Aztecs led 5-4 at the half and then outscored the Bobcats 8-3 in the second half while allowing just 11 shots on goal.
