SAN DIEGO -- One former Aztec appeared in a trio of NBA games while a trio participated in a golf tournament.
In the NBA, forward Jalen McDaniels (2018-19) played in three games for Charlotte. Last week, he averaged 2.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 0.3 steals. So far this season, he is averaging 6.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.5 steals and 0.4 blocks per game. Toronto guard Malachi Flynn (2020) missed the week with a hamstring injury. On the season, he is averaging 4.3 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.1 blocks. Guard Jordan Schakel (2018-21) was signed to a two-way contract by Washington, but did not appear in any games for the Wizards. Forward Kawhi Leonard (2010-11) is on the Los Angeles Clippers, but is sitting out while recovering from a torn ACL suffered during last season's playoffs.
On the PGA Tour, Xander Schauffele (2013-15), J.J. Spaun (2009-12) and Scott Piercy (1999-2001) each did not make the cut in THE PLAYERS Championship. Schauffele is ranked seventh in the world. Spaun and Piercy will compete in the Valspar Championship, in Palm Harbor, Florida this weekend.
