Aztecs Finish Day One of Lamkin Invitational

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – The Aztecs completed the first day of the Lamkin Invitational at The Farms Golf Club, SDSU's home course. The second round was suspended due to darkness, although many players were able to finish all 36 holes.
 
After the first round, SDSU was tied for sixth after shooting a 294 six-over-par as a team, and were led by Anika Sato, who shot a 71 (-1) and tied for 13th.
 
The Aztecs all have one or two more holes left to finish in their second round, but currently unofficially sit tied for eighth and 18-over-par.
 
Sato's first round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-four 14th hole. She also birdied 16, 17 and six.

Sara Kjellker collected four birdies and finished with a one-over-par 73. Bernice Olivarez Ilas, coming off a strong fall season, shot a four-over-par 76.
 
Sammy Lee shot a solid two-over-par 74 with birdies on 13, 13, and 5.
 
Anna Lina Otten had birdies on two of her first six holes (17 & 18) but struggled closing out the round and finished her last three holes of the first round with two double-bogeys and a bogey.
 
April Ranches, who was playing as an individual and in her first tournament of the 2021-22 season, finished with an even-par 72. She had three birdies, including two of her final three holes. Esti Garcia Rubio, who was also playing as an individual, had a 74 (+2).
 
UP NEXT
The Aztecs will finish up their remaining holes from round two at 7:30 a.m. and then begin the third and final round at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. They will remain paired with No. 1 Stanford and San Jose State.
