IRVING, Texas -- San Diego State moved up three spots to 19th in the third College Football Playoff Selection Committee Rankings, which were released Tuesday. The Aztecs debuted at No. 24 in the CFP rankings on Nov. 2 and were at No. 22 last week.
SDSU is ahead of No. 20 North Carolina State, No. 21 Arkansas, No. 22 UTSA, No. 23 Utah, No. 24 Houston and No. 25 Mississippi State. No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 17 Iowa and No. 18 Pittsburgh are just ahead of San Diego State. Georgia, Alabama, Oregon and Ohio State remained the top-4 teams in the latest rankings.
The Aztecs are 9-1, matching their best 10-game start since their first year of Division I football in 1969. SDSU has a pair of wins over Pac-12 programs in No. 23 Utah and Arizona with its only loss coming Oct. 30 to Fresno State, which was No. 23 in the CFP rankings after beating San Diego State.
The Aztecs, who are ranked 23rd in both the AP and coaches poll, play UNLV in Las Vegas at 8:30 p.m. PT Friday.
