SAN DIEGO – In earning a pair of clean sheets over the weekend, in 2-0 victories over Boise State and Utah State, San Diego State women's soccer keeper Alexa Madueno has been named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 3.

In two games, Madueno faced a total of 17 shots and turned away all five that reached her line. She had a 0.00 GAA and a 1.000 saves percentage for the week.

The shutouts were her fourth and fifth of the season, and in each of the team's victories this year, the sophomore from Woodland, Calif., has held the opponent scoreless. For her collegiate career, she has recorded eight clean sheets among her 13 victories.

Following the weekend, Madueno is ranked No. T-25 nationally in shutouts and leads the Mountain West. In addition, she tops the league with 66 saves, No. 31 in the nation, and is No. 51 in saves per game (5.50), which also paces the Mountain West.

This is the second player of the week honor the Mountain West has bestowed on Madueno this year and the third for an Aztec during the campaign.
