SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women's basketball team hosts Biola University for an exhibition game Monday at 6 p.m. inside Viejas Arena.
 
Aztec Tidbits
• SDSU will kick off the 2021-22 season November 9 when they host Cal State Los Angeles at 11 a.m.
• The Aztecs return nine letterwinners, four starters and six players who started at least 10 games last season. SDSU returns 81 percent of their scoring and 91 percent of their rebounding from a season ago. Téa Adams is the only significant contributor from a season ago who is not on the team for the 2021-22 campaign.
• Senior guard Sophia Ramos (San Antonio, Texas) enters the year with career totals of 1,092 points, 405 rebounds, 308 assists and an 82.6 free throw percentage. She could finish her career in the top 5 all-time in points and assists and become the only Aztec ever with 1,500 points, 400 assists and 500 rebounds in a career.
• Point guard Asia Avinger (Cerritos, Calif.) was named the Mountain West Preseason Freshman of the Year for the second straight season. She missed all of last season with an injury. Avinger is the highest rated recruit under Coach Terry-Hutson.
• SDSU also returns Kim Villalobos who was a Mountain West All-Freshman Team selection a year ago. She played with the El Salvador National Team over the summer
• The Aztecs have two newcomers: Khylee-Jade Pepe and Meghan Fiso. Pepe (Bishop Montgomery HS, Long Beach, Calif.) is a consensus four-star recruit and was ranked No. 83 in the country by espnW. Fiso played her freshman season at Michigan and was the 2020 AP Class 3A Player of the Year in Washington and was a top 40 recruit according to Prospects Nation.
 
Opponent Notebook (Biola)
The Eagles went 4-9 last year… They averaged 69.8 points while allowing 72.2… They return four of their top five leading scorers from a season ago, including Stephanie Lee who led the team in scoring (15.1 ppg), assists (2.8 apg) and made three-pointers (37)… Biola is coached by Alan Nakamura who is in his seventh season… The Aztecs are 4-3 all-time against Biola, but have only played once since 1983, a 63-48 SDSU win in 2016… SDSU hosted them for an exhibition in 2018, which the Aztecs won 63-53.
 
Entering Viejas Arena
Viejas Arena follows all current California Department of Public Health Guidelines, San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency, and San Diego State University Guidelines for "Indoor Mega Events." As such, three ways to enter Viejas Arena have been established starting with the women's exhibition game on Nov. 1. 

  1. San Diego State University staff, faculty and students can use HealtheConnect, through Student Health Services, to gain access to Viejas Arena for men's and women's basketball games. Attendees in this group will need to show a picture ID and display their HealtheConnect medallion to confirm their vaccination status or negative test within 72 hours prior to the event.

 Patrons who are not members of the university staff, faculty or student body can gain access to Viejas Arena in one of two ways.

        2.  Utilize the Bindle app on your smartphone. Download the app, create an account and upload your COVID-19 Vaccination Smart Health QR code, your vaccination record, or recent test result. To gain entry to Viejas Arena on game day, show the app which will include your picture and, a green background showing you have met the vaccination or testing requirement

         3.  Provide a hard copy of your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card or negative test result dated within 72 hours prior to the event, along with a photo identification card.  

Mask Policy
In addition, all guests must adhere to the SDSU facial covering policy. Those over the age of 2 are required to wear a facial covering that covers both the nose and mouth at all times, unless actively eating or drinking, regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status.
 
Bag Policy
To expedite your entry into Viejas Arena it is recommended that you do not bring a bag. If you must bring a bag, we highly suggest a clear plastic, vinyl or PVC tote bag, this to reduce staff contact with our guests' belongings. Bags can be no larger than 16" x 8 "x 16". No backpacks allowed.
