SAN DIEGO – Matt Bradley, a San Diego State guard, has been included on the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's initial watch list for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award, the most prestigious individual honor a collegiate shooting guard can earn.

Bradley, a transfer from California who competed for three seasons in Berkeley, averaged 18.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 2020-21, his last year with the Bears. In 22 games last season, he reached double figures 21 times, including a career-high 29 points against Colorado, and was one of just five players in Division I to average at least 18.0 points per game, while shooting at least .455 from the field, .364 from the bonus distance, a minimum of .821 from the line, while also grabbing 4.6 rebounds per game. For his career, he has averaged 15.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 66 starts among 85 total appearances.

A two-time All-Pac-12 honoree, following his sophomore and junior campaigns, his 18.0 points per game, .455 field goal percentage, .364 3-point shooting percentage & .821 free throw percentage last year would have all ranked the top-5 in the Mountain West.

The San Bernardino, Calif., native, has scored 1,290 points in 85 career games and is one of 12 players, nationally, to score at least 1,290 points in the last three seasons. In addition, he was one of 23 players in a Power-5 conference to shoot at least .455 from the floor and .364 from 3-point range last season and would have been the only player in the Mountain West to compile those stats in 2020-21.

Fans are encouraged to participate in fan voting presented by Dell Technologies in each of the three rounds. In late January, the watch list of 20 will be narrowed to 10 and then in late February to just five. In March, the five finalists will be presented to Mr. West and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected.
