COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- San Diego State senior Kaegun Williams (Cedar Hill, Texas) has been named the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. It is the first career league accolade for Williams and the first by an Aztec this season.

Williams was instrumental on special teams in SDSU's 38-14 win at Arizona on Saturday night, San Diego State's first victory against the Wildcats since Nov. 10, 1979. Williams blocked a punt in the first quarter, which was scooped up by Tyrell Shavers and returned 27 yards for a touchdown, to put the Aztecs up, 21-0, and proved to be the game-winning score. In addition to playing on all four special teams units - kickoff, punt, kick return and punt return - Williams also ran nine times for 42 yards (4.7 avg.) with a long of 23 yards and caught a 13-yard pass.

Through two games this season, Williams has rushed 13 times for 55 yards (4.2 avg.) and has a 13-yard catch.

SDSU, which is receiving votes in the latest USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, welcomes Utah to Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif., on Saturday, beginning at 4 p.m. PT. San Diego State is 6-2 against the Pac-12 since the start of the 2016 season.
