SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State senior men's golfer Puwit Anupansuebsai (Nakhon Phanom, Thailand) has been named a PING All-American, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Monday. Anupansuebsai is on the third team for a second straight season.
Anupansuebsai, who last month received honorable-mention All-America accolades from Golfweek, led the Aztecs in scoring average (70.93), rounds in the 60s (10), rounds below par (13), even-par rounds (6) and team count percentage (.926). He finished the season ranked 34th in the Sagarin/Golfweek ratings, despite SDSU only competing in the spring.
Anupansuebsai was San Diego State's top finisher in each of the final five tournaments, including a tie for 56th at the NCAA Championship from May 28-30 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Prior to the NCAA Championship, Anupansuebsai had an individual win at the NCAA Kingston Springs Regional (May 17-19), a playoff victory at the MW Championship (April 29-May 1), a playoff loss at the Western Intercollegiate (April 12-14) and a tie for second at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic (April 5-6).
Anupansuebsai is currently 23rd in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
The Aztecs tied for 25th at the NCAA Championship and completed their season with two team victories, seven top-5 finishes and three individual titles.
