COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Aztec track and field team, who won the Mountain West Outdoor Championships last weekend, had 14 student-athletes named to the all-conference team. The 14 honorees are the most SDSU has had since 2016 when they also had 14.
 
Additionally, head coach Shelia Burrell was named the Mountain West Coach of the Year, her fifth time earning the award. The Aztecs have won three of the last four outdoor championships and five of the last eight.
 
Jada Moore was honored in a team-high three events, the 100m (11.351) and 200m dashes (23.11) and the 4x100m relay (44.15), winning a gold medal in each event and setting SDSU freshman records in the 100 and 200.
 
Maya Brosch, Danae Dyer, Rhea Hoyte and Nyjari McNeil made the All-Mountain West team in two events each. Brosch (400m hurdles, 59.54), Dyer (100m hurdles, 12.99) and McNeil (800m, 2:05.34) each earned a gold medal in their individual races and then were part of an Aztec relay team take first with Brosch and McNeil helping SDSU win their fourth straight 4x400m relay (3:38.94) and Dyer second leg of the 4x100m relay (44.15).
 
Hoyte won the silver in the 400m hurdles (59.66) and was on the 4x400m relay team.
 
Tai McDonald and Aisha Watt were also on the 4x100m relay team which finished in 44.15, fifth best in school history.
 
Jalyn Harris picked up her 10th career All-MW honor (sixth outdoor) after running the second leg of the 4x400m relay. Harris has helped the Aztecs win four 4x400m relays (three outdoor and one indoor).
 
Erica Grotegeer won the silver medal after a personal best throw of 182-5 (55.61m), fifth all-time.
 
Freshman Thaila Wilson also earned a silver after a PR in the javelin (141-8, 43.20), eighth all-time.
 
The Aztecs took second and third in the pole vault with Kaitlin Heri and Elizabeth Funk each clearing 13-02.25 (4.02m), which was a new personal best for Funk.
 
Jessica Kain finished the 1,500m in 4:21.87, the fastest time by an Aztec since 1982 and good for third place.
 
Freshman Simone Johnson also earned a bronze after clearing 41-05.00 (12.62m) in the triple jump.
 
To earn All-Mountain West honors, an athlete must medal (top three).
