STANFORD, Calif. -- The 47th-ranked San Diego State women's golf team had its season come to an end at the NCAA Stanford Regional Wednesday on the par-71, 6,291-yard Stanford Golf Course. The Aztecs, who were the No. 12 seed in the 18-team field, finished in a tie for 15th at 41-over-par 893.

SDSU carded a 24-over 308 in the final round Wednesday after shooting a 7-over 291 on Monday and a 10-over 294 on Tuesday. San Diego State tied with TCU for 15th, besting Cal Poly (+45) and Navy (+73). No. 20 Stanford, which was competing on its home course for a third time this spring and for the second straight tournament, won its own regional at 28-under 824, 30 strokes ahead of No. 3 Wake Forest (+2). Also advancing to the NCAA Championships, scheduled for May 21-26 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., with Stanford and Wake Forest were No. 6 Oklahoma State (+3), No. 14 Virginia Tech (+4), No. 22 Arizona (+5) and No. 10 USC (+8).

Sara Kjellker once again led the Aztecs, finishing in a tie for 18th in the 95-player field at 2-over 215. After rounds of 69 and 72 earlier in the week, Kjellker had a 3-over 74 today to slip seven places. Kjellker, who was named the Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Week on Thursday, was unable to record a birdie in the final round, instead settling for 15 pars and bogeys on the par-5, 503-yard 16th hole, par-4, 422-yard 18th and the par-3, 150-yard fourth. Kjellker needed to finish among the top-three of the non-qualifying teams, but just missed it, tying for fifth. The three individuals who moved on to Scottsdale were San José State's Kajsa Arwefjall (-3), Fresno State's Brigitte Thibault (-2) and Denver's Anna Zanusso (-2).

Rachel Heck (-11) and Angelina Ye (-10) finished first and second, respectively, for Stanford, while Oklahoma States Maja Stark (-7), Arizona's YuSang Hou (-6) and Arwefjall (-3) rounded out the top-five.

Ranches recorded one birdie on the day - the par-5, 477-yard 12th - and six bogeys. Ilas had two birdies, including the par-5, 501-yard first and No. 12, but also eight bogeys and a double bogey on the par-3, 152-yard eighth.

Andrea Gomez slipped into a tie for 73rd following an 8-over 79 on Wednesday, totaling 15-over 228 overall. She had her lone birdie on the fourth hole, offsetting three bogeys and three double bogeys.
