SAN FRANCISCO – Three members of the Aztec men's soccer team earned all-Pac-12 honors, the conference announced Thursday afternoon. Andre Ochoa was named to the All-Pac-12 second team and Blake Bowen and Iñigo Villaldea were honorable mention selections.
Ochoa (Anaheim, Calif.) started all 10 matches and finished third on the team in minutes while recording two goals and two assists as freshman center midfielder.
"Andre provided an all-around presence in our midfield," Head coach Ryan Hopkins explained. "He did a little bit of everything with his passing, dribbling, shooting and tackling."
Bowen (San Clemente, Calif.) led the Aztecs in goals (3), points (8) and shots (13) while starting all 10 matches.
"Blake had some excellent moments for us this year and created some fantastic goals," Hopkins credited.
Villaldea (Gijón, Spain), a freshmen midfielder, finished tied for second on the team with six points and started all eight matches he appeared in.
"Iñigo had a calming influence in our midfield," Hopkins said. "He really helped us set the tempo and had some fantastic goals off free kicks and assists as well."
