FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – San Diego State's junior diver Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez qualified for the NCAA Championships on the 1-meter springboard today with her third-place finish at the NCAA Zone E Championships, held at Wall Aquatic Center on the campus of Northern Arizona University.
The Tijuana, Mexico native earned her spot at the national championship meet with a third-place effort in the 1-meter preliminaries, scoring 290.60 points. In the finals, she added 267.25 points to her qualifying score to place third overall with a total score of 557.85.
Also competing at the event werejuniors Lexi Letts and Gina Cazares, who placed 24th and 26th, respectively, in the qualifying rounds. Letts totaled 228.05 points while Cazares recorded a score of 216.95.
San Diego State's divers hit the springboard again tomorrow, competing on the 3-meter at 11:30 a.m./1:15 p.m. MT. Live results can be found here and a live stream can be found here.
