SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women's tennis team welcomes two opponents to Aztec Tennis Center this week for non-conference dual matches. SDSU hosts UC Riverside on Tuesday, March 9, and brings in Gonzaga University on Thursday, March 11. Both matches are set for 2 p.m.

In their last outing, the Aztecs dropped their first match of the 2021 season Sunday with a 7-0 loss to the University of San Diego. The Aztecs won their lone battle of the day in doubles play on court two as senior Nnena Nadozie and junior Regina Pitts earned a victory over Kukaras/Kalaitzis 6-4, but the Toreros had secured the doubles point with wins on court one and three.

The Aztecs look to bounce back Tuesday taking on a UC Riverside program they have topped in their past two meetings. The last time the two opponents met was in the 2018-19 campaign where the Aztecs swept the Highlanders 7-0 on Jan. 27, 2019.

Gonzaga makes its first appearance at Aztec Tennis Center since at least the 1999 season. The two teams did meet in a neutral site match in Seattle, Wash. Feb. 1, 2008, where the Aztecs swept the Bulldogs 7-0.

The first serve for both matches is set to begin at 2 p.m. At this time, no fans will be permitted to attend SDSU home matches at Aztec Tennis Center due to COVID-19 protocols.
