SAN DIEGO – San Diego State senior swimmer Klara Thormalm and junior diver Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez head to Greensboro, N.C. to compete in the 2021 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The event runs March 17-20 while the Aztecs participants will compete March 18-20.
 
Thormalm was invited to swim in the 100 breast with the 15th fastest time in the NCAA this year with a season-best time of 59.14 at the 2021 MW Championships.  With her spot solidified in the 100 breast at the NCAA championships, Thormalm will also swim in the 50 free and 200 breast based on her NCAA 'B' cut marks throughout the season.
 
Gonzalez had spectacular performances at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships, qualifying to compete on the 1-meter and 3-meter at the national championship meet. The Tijuana, Mexico native earned her spot at the national championship meet with a third-place effort in the 1-meter preliminaries, scoring 290.60 points. In the finals, she added 267.25 points to her qualifying score to place third overall with a total score of 557.85. In the 3-meter, Lechuga Gonzalez opened with a sixth-place finish in the preliminary round, scoring 298.30 points. She went on to add 310.85 points to her total for a second-place finish in the finals with 609.15 points. With her qualifying marks in the 1 and 3-meter, Ximena will also dive in the platform competition based on her 12th-place finish at the Zone Championship event.
 
The schedule for the NCAA Championships is listed below. Thormalm will compete on March 18 in the 50 free, the 100 breast on March 19 and the 200 breast on March 20. Lechuga Gonzalez will see action on March 18 on the 1-meter, March 19 on the 3-meter and the platform on March 20. Preliminary heats begin at 10 a.m. ET and finals kick off at 6 p.m. ET. The meet will be streamed live on ESPN3 and results will be available for swimming here and diving here.
