"Especially during these challenging times we have recently faced, there has been a need for excellent leadership—it has never been more important," noted White. "Our team selected these five women and they have been essential in keeping our team moving in the right direction. They have kept things positive even through all the limitations and new protocols we have experienced and without them, I do not know where we would be at. I am so grateful for their leadership already and I am positive their efforts will impact this program for years to come."

All five captains were integral parts of the Aztecs' limited 2020 campaign which saw the team go 3-2 overall and 2-2 against Pac-12 foes.
