SAN DIEGO – Andre Ochoa of the Aztec men's soccer team was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Best XI Friday morning.
Ochoa was one of just four freshmen midfielders in the nation chosen and the only Pac-12 freshman to be named to the Best XI, Top Drawer Soccer's equivalent to a preseason freshmen All-American team.
"Andre is an exciting two-way attacking player that will create a lot of scoring opportunities for us through his vision, shooting and ability to press," Head coach Ryan Hopkins said. "We are very excited for his future with us as he is a humble young player who continually strives to improve himself on and off the field."
Ochoa (Anaheim, Calif.), one of the highest-ranked recruits in the Southern California region, is a product of the Los Angeles Galaxy Academy.
The Aztecs open their 2021 season next Thursday when they host Dixie State at 7 p.m.
