At the Farmers Insurance Open in nearby Torrey Pines last weekend, Xander Schauffele (2013-15) tied for second at 9-under-par, his best finish at his hometown course. The second-place finish moved Schauffele back to No. 4 in the latest Official World Golf Ranking. The No. 4 OWGR matches the highest ranking of his career, something he first accomplished in January after a T5 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii. Schauffele, who ended each of the last three seasons ranked in the top 10 in the world, only trails Dustin Johnson (No. 1), Jon Rahm (No. 2) and Justin Thomas (No. 3) heading into this weekend's Waste Management Phoenix Open, where he will be playing the first two rounds alongside Rory McIlroy (No. 6) and Daniel Berger (No. 14) .
