SAN DIEGO -- Fresh off a doubleheader sweep at San Diego, the San Diego State softball team welcomes UC Davis for a weekend series at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs (2-0) and Aggies (0-4) are scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. PT and a single game Sunday at 11 a.m. PT.

SDSU shut out San Diego in back-to-back games Wednesday at USD Softball Complex, winning 8-0 and 1-0.

Through two games, Jillian Celis (2 RBI, 1 SB) and Sara Lillie (2 R, 1 RBI, 1 SB) lead San Diego State with a .429 average. Taylor Adams is tied with Lillie for the team lead with two runs, while Shelby Thompson's two RBIs match Celis for the most on the team.

The Aztec pitching staff, meanwhile, has yet to give up a run through two games. Maggie Balint (1-0, 7.0 IP, 6 K, 2 BB, .136 opp. avg.) and Hannah Johnson (1-0, 5.0 IP, 4 K, 0 BB, .263 opp. avg.) each picked up wins on Wednesday night, while Karina Faasisila has three strikeouts in a perfect two innings of relief.

Although UCD is 0-4 on the season, three of the losses were by one run, including the opener in nine innings. UC Davis lost a pair of doubleheaders at home to California Baptist (3-2 and 6-2) on Feb. 11 and to Nevada (5-4 and 4-3) on Feb. 12.

Sommer Kisling leads the Aggie offense with a .357 average to go along with three runs, while Megan Bower (HR, 3 RBI, 3 R, 2B), Leah Polson (2B, RBI, BB) and Sarah Starks (HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 4 BB) are each hitting .333.

Taylor Fitzgerald (0-2) leads the UCD pitching staff with a 0.62 ERA in 11 1/3 innings, striking out five without issuing a walk. Sarah Reineman (0-0, 3.50 ERA, 6.0 IP, 6K, 3 BB) and Kenedi Brown (0-2, 4.97 ERA, 12.2 IP, 10 K, 12 BB) have also logged innings in the circle for UC Davis.

SDSU is 6-2 all-time against the Aggies but lost the last two meetings during the 2018 campaign.

Following the series with UC Davis, San Diego State will take on No. 1/1 UCLA Wednesday in Los Angeles before hosting No. 2/3 Washington for three games next weekend.
