SAN DIEGO—  San Diego State lacrosse redshirt-freshman Katelyn Murphy and junior Cailin Young were named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Players of the Week, the conference offices announced Tuesday. Young earned the defensive player of the week nod while Murphy was named the league's best newcomer for the period ending Feb. 14.

In the Aztecs' Saturday matchup vs. No. 13 USC, Young made an impact on both sides of the field. The junior's stat line included a goal, two ground balls and a turnover. Murphy led the way for the Aztecs' rookies, grabbing a ground ball in SDSU's contest with the Women of Troy. Her first pickup of the day led to the Scarlet and Black's fourth goal of the game, putting SDSU up 4-2 with 19:09 left to play in the first.

The Aztecs welcome another Pac-12 opponent to the Mesa this week as SDSU hosts the University of Oregon for a game under the lights Friday, Feb. 19. The opening draw is set for 6 p.m. Just two days later, the Scarlet and Black head to Arizona State for a Sunday game, slated to begin at 1 p.m. MT, noon PT.
