COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State junior diver Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez was named Mountain West Diver of the Week for the period since Dec. 8, 2020, the conference office announced today.
The reigning Mountain West Diver of the Year impressed in three separate competitions since Dec. 8, including topping the standings in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard competition in a Pentathlon with the University of San Diego, Dec. 10. Her 1-meter performance broke the 300-point barrier with a score of 300.30, a total more than 43 points higher than the rest of the field of competition.
This past weekend, Gonzalez secured podium finishes at both dual meets, led off by a second-place finish in the 1-meter dive at Pepperdine, Jan. 15. She followed this performance with a top finish in the 3-meter springboard at Cal Poly, Jan. 16.
For her efforts this season, Gonzalez ranks second in the conference in the both the 1 and 3-meter events.
