Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the San Diego State men's tennis team played just 10 dual matches this spring, finishing with a 5-5 record and a 1-0 mark in the Mountain West.

Below is a look at the Aztecs' 2019-20 season in review by the numbers. 
    

1Freshmen Jules Auffray and Daniel Traxler were each victorious in their first dual-match appearances against San Diego Christian. Traxler won his match in the fifth position, while Auffray was triumphant in the sixth spot.
2Playing in the No. 2 position, Arnaud Restifo and Fabian Roensdorf clinched the pivotal doubles point in the Aztecs' hard-fought 4-3 victory at Boise State with a 7-5 thriller.
3The Aztecs had three players earn All-Mountain West honors this season. Rafael Gonzalez Almazan and Ignacio Martinez garnered all-MW accolades in doubles, while Roensdorf received distinction in singles play during the 2020 campaign. With their honors, Gonzalez Almazan (2018) and Martinez (2019) merited all-MW doubles recognition for the second time in their respective careers, while Roensdorf was a first-time recipient.
3SDSU also boasted three of the Mountain West's eight Player of the Week award recipients this year in David Hough (Jan. 22), Ignacio Martinez (Feb. 5) and Rafael Gonzalez Almazan (March 11).
4Rafael Gonzalez Almazan and Ignacio Martinez enjoyed a successful run at the prestigious Pacific Coast Doubles Championships at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, where they advanced to the quarterfinal round after finishing with a 4-1 record.
6In their lone Mountain West clash of the year, the Aztecs snapped a six-match road losing streak to Boise State dating back to 1994 with a narrow 4-3 triumph over the Broncos on Feb. 23.
7In what ultimately proved to be its final match of the season, SDSU completed its second shutout of the season with a 7-0 whitewash of San Diego Christian on March 5. The Aztecs also blanked UC Davis 4-0 on Feb. 28.
8Aaro Pollanen, a transfer from Arizona, paced the Aztecs with an 8-4 record during the fall tournament schedule. Pollanen netted three of those victories at the UCSB Fall Classic to go with a pair of wins at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships.
12David Hough led SDSU with 12 overall victories in singles competition. The Aztec senior also topped with squad with a 5-2 record in dual matches, including three straight to end the year.

San Diego State utilized 16 different doubles tandems during the 2019-20 campaign, posting a combined 42-31 record.

>> The Aztec men's tennis program recorded the highest collective GPA by a men's team in the SDSU athletic department for the third semester in a row.
>> San Diego State fortified its roster for the 2020-21 campaign with the signing of highly regarded recruits Judson Blair (Salem, Ore.) and Roni Rikkonen (Tampere, Finland).
