SDSU Softball Heads to Louisville Slugger Invitational for Five Games
The San Diego State softball team wraps up its non-conference tournament schedule this weekend at the five-day, nine-team Louisville Slugger Invitational, co-hosted by UCLA and Long Beach State.

The Aztecs (14-9) will play Cal State Fullerton at 11:30 a.m. PT Friday in Long Beach, Calif., Cal Poly (9 a.m. PT) and Boston Univ. (11:30 a.m. PT) on Saturday in Los Angeles, and No. 22/22 UCF (9 a.m. PT) and Long Beach State (2 p.m. PT) Sunday in Long Beach.

SDSU is 5-4 this season against teams that made the 2019 NCAA tournament and will play two more this weekend in Cal State Fullerton - a team San Diego State defeated, 3-2, in eight innings on Feb. 14 - and Boston Univ.

The Aztecs have also played much better in tournament games this year, going 13-6 compared to a 1-3 record in mid-week solo games.

Freshman Sadie Langlet (Roseville, Calif.) leads SDSU with a .300 average to go along with two home runs and 10 RBIs. Junior Taylor Adams (Mill Creek, Wash.) is batting .295 with five doubles, six RBIs and 12 runs, while juniors Alexa Schultz (Los Alamitos, Calif.) (.266, 11 RBI, 10 R, 4 2B) and Kelsey Munoz (Chula Vista, Calif.) (.265, 1 HR, 9 RBI, 11 R, 4 2B), and senior Shelby Thompson (Benicia, Calif.) (.261, 4 HR, 13 RBI, 17 R, 3 3B) have also contributed at the plate.

San Diego State has been impressive in the circle as well, particularly  by the play of sophomore Hannah Johnson (La Habra, Calif.) (4-1, 1.81 ERA, 38.2 IP, 27 K, .196 opp. avg.), junior Maggie Balint (West Grove, Pa.) (6-4, 2 SV, 2.56 ERA, 63.0 IP, 88 K, .176 opp. avg.) and senior Marissa Moreno (Torrance, Calif.) (3-2, 3.35 ERA, 39.2 IP, 34 K, .269 opp. avg.).
