SAN DIEGO – San Diego State junior guard Malachi Flynn, who led the Aztecs to two victories this week, has been named the final regular-season Mountain West Men's Basketball Peak Player of the Week.  The announcement was made from the conference office in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Sunday.

The native of Tacoma, Wash., averaged 26.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in SDSU victories over Colorado State (66-60) last Tuesday and at Nevada (83-76) last night.

In Reno, Flynn exploded for a career-high 36 points on 13-of-20 (65.0 percent) shooting from the floor, including 3-of-6 (50.0 percent) from long range and knocked down all seven of his free throw attempts.

His 36 points are the most by an Aztec player since Brandon Heath tallied 37 against UNLV on Jan. 15, 2005 and he is just the eighth player in college basketball this season to produce a stat line of 36 points, five rebounds and five assists and the first from a Mountain West Conference team.  He is the 36th player in San Diego State history to produce a 30-point game and his 36 points are the second most by an Aztec player this century.

After scoring 22 points in the first half, Flynn led SDSU to a 13-point, second-half comeback win which snapped the Wolf Pack six-game win streak, 10-game homecourt win streak and 20-game homecourt win streak against Mountain West opponents.

Against Colorado State, Flynn led all scorers with 17 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists.  He scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half and hit two critical free throws down the stretch to help secure the victory.

Flynn and his Aztecs teammates are the No. 1 seed in next week's 2020 Air Force Reserve Mountain West Men's Basketball Championship and will play their first game on Thursday, March 5 at 11:30 a.m. PT in Las Vegas.  The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and tickets are available through the Thomas and Mack Center.

This is Flynn's second Mountain West Player of the Week honor this season having earned the designation on Dec. 2, 2019.
