COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sophia Ramos was named the Mountain West Player of the week, the conference office announced Monday morning. Ramos averaged 28 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting 56 percent (14-25) from the field and from three (5-9) and was a perfect 23-for-23 from the line to help the Aztecs earn wins over New Mexico and Utah State,

In Wednesday's game against New Mexico, Ramos set career-highs for points (32) and rebounds (11) and was 16-for-16 from the free throw line. She hit the game-winning free throws with five seconds left to secure the Aztecs' 75-74 win over New Mexico.

Ramos' 16 made free throws tied the school record set by Tina Hutchinson in 1984 and she became just the second player in the nation to make at least 16 free throws without a miss in a game this season.

On Saturday, Ramos once again paced the Aztecs, scoring 28 points and grabbing a team-high eight rebounds in SDSU's 59-51 win at Utah State.

This is Ramos' second Mountain West Player of the Week Award this season. She earned the award December 23, 2019 after scoring a then career-high 30 points at California Baptist and helping SDSU win two road games.

Ramos was also named the National High-Major Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.

The Aztecs return to action Saturday when they host Air Force at 1 p.m. PT.
