SAN DIEGO - The NFL season came to an end for a host of former Aztecs.
Running back Rashaad Penny played in 10 games this season for the Seattle Seahawks before being placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL following Week 14. He played 151 snaps on offense and eight on special teams. Penny rushed 65 times for 370 yards (5.7 avg) and three touchdowns, while catching eight passes for 83 yards (10.4 avg.) and another touchdown. Penny also returned three kicks for 44 yards (14.7 avg.).
Fullback Nick Bawden also played in 10 games, starting two for the Detroit Lions before suffering a knee injury and being placed on injured reserve. Bawden was on the field for 124 snaps on offense and 180 snaps on special teams. He caught four of six targets for 17 yards (4.3 avg).
Offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill played in 14 games this season, starting seven for the San Francisco 49ers. Brunskill appeared in 476 snaps on offense and 42 on special teams. Brunskill and the 49ers won the NFC West and are the 1 seed in the NFC Playoffs. After a bye in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, San Francisco will host Minnesota on Saturday night in the Divisional round.
Long snapper Aaron Brewer played in 16 games this season for the Arizona Cardinals. Brewer was on the field for 146 snaps, all on special teams.
Linebacker Calvin Munson played in two games this season for the Miami Dolphins, starting both. Munson played for 76 snaps on defense and 22 snaps on special teams. He recorded seven tackles (six solo).
Defensive back Damontae Kazee played in all 16 games for the Atlanta Falcons, starting 14. Kazee was on the field for 803 snaps on defense and 107 on special teams. He recorded 69 tackles (42 solo), while also intercepting three passes, defending three passes, and forcing a fumble.
Safety Kameron Kelly played in the first 14 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers, starting one, prior to being waived prior to Week 16. Kelly appeared on 131 snaps on defense and 173 on special teams. He recorded 15 tackles (12 solo), while also intercepting a pass.
In the NBA, Kawhi Leonard has played in 28 games so far for the Los Angeles Clippers. He has averaged 25.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game. The Clippers sit at 26-12, with the second-most wins in the Western Conference.
In golf, Xander Schauffele finished tied for second in the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawai'i, last weekend at 14-under par. Schauffele was leading the tournament heading into the final day.
