SAN DIEGO – San Diego State's swimming and diving team dives into a new decade of competition when they play host to a pentathlon and scrimmage Friday, Jan. 3 at Aztec Aquaplex.
First up, the Aztecs host Air Force, Incarnate Word, the University of San Diego and San Jose State for a pentathlon scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. The teams will swim the 100 breaststroke, freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, and 100 individual medley in heats of 10 swimmers with a maximum of two swimmers per team competing in each leg. The pentathlon is not scored but the top three swimmers from each team will be recognized for their efforts.
The day will continue with an open practice/scrimmage with Air Force and San Jose State beginning at 2:30 p.m.
SDSU hits the water for the first time since Dec. 20, 2019, where the team competed in scrimmages against both Vanderbilt University and Seattle University. The Scarlet and Black secured top finishes in all nine individual events, led by senior Courtney Vincent and sophomore Kristina Murphy who each earned top marks in two of the meet's events.
Both meets are open to the public with free admission. Results will be posted on GoAztecs.com after the conclusion of both competitions.
