SAN DIEGO – San Diego State's swimming and diving team readies for two meets Friday, Dec. 20. The Aztecs open the day with a dual-meet scrimmage against Vanderbilt at 9 a.m. and follow with a scrimmage against both the Commodores and Seattle University at 2:30 p.m., both at Aztec Aquaplex.
This marks SDSU's first competition in the month of December and first time competing in the water since Nov. 22-23. The Scarlet and Black most recently sent their swimmers to the Mizzou Invitational, where senior Morganne McKennan qualified for the 2020 Olympic Time Trials in the 100 breaststroke and senior Courtney Vincent bested her own school record in the 100 butterfly. The Aztecs' divers most recently saw action at the Northern Arizona Diving Invitational #1, where sophomore Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez collected three top-three finishes, including a gold-medal effort on the platform dive. For their efforts in their last performances, both McKennan and Lechuga Gonzalez were named Mountain West Swimmer/Diver of the Week for the week ending Nov. 24.
Both meets are open to the public with free admission. Results will be posted on GoAztecs.com after the conclusion of competition.
